Way up North

Mr James Coyle recently sent over a link to his first Newcastle scene video 'Way up North'. From 2008, W.U.N features sections from James himself, other Irish heads such as Dan Sammons and John Fleming, as well as Kurt Mitchell, Sunderland sex bomb Paul Morris and the north east's legendary man of the wild; Jimmy Boyce. Also featured is a Mischief section filmed by our greatly missed and fondly remembered friend Steven Binks, known to most simply as Bingo. Enjoy!

From The Toon to The Smoke

In the weeks leading up to my move to London and in the weeks following it I slowly shot a roll of 35mm film using my Praktika MTL3. I finished the roll over a month ago but it just sat in my room for weeks before I finally found the time to get it processed. But get it processed I did and below are the results starting with Newcastle. CLICK TO ENLARGE. Will with one of his noseblunt bonk thingy's way back in April. Dan pops off the end of Temple banks via a 5-0. The lack of Hurricane's in the atlantic ocean is apparently what's stopping us from having a summer as they force warm air our way. If this one from Jamie had the same affect on our global weather systems we'd all be basking in 30 degree heat. This well known North East spot was the destination on my last skate mission before I moved. Here will performs a cheeky nose pick as a farewell present. Jimbo gets his blunt on down below at the same spot. Now we have some shots from my new home of London town. Time is hard to come by at the minute so these are really the only shots I've taken (of skating that is) since being here. Will joined me for the opening of the newly revamped Kennington Bowl back in May. The highlight was him winning some shoes and getting knucks from Pontus for a nosegrind pop out. He still hasn't washed his hand. I didn't get a shot of said trick but did get one of this dude (can't remember his name) doing a legit bs noseblunt slide: The next shot pretty much sums up the majority of the time I have been in London. Rain, rain and more rain, this kid couldn't give two fucks though. To finish we have a shot from one of the few days that I have actually been street skating. Parlour Skate Store rider Simon De Oliveira busts out a nose slide on this pretty tall ledge with an even taller drop at the end. I'm back in Newcaslte this weekend so I'll hopefully have something blog next week when I return to London. Peace. BL.

London update

Hello again everyone. It's been a while now since I left the banks of the Tyne and moored up on the Thames so i thought I'd just give people a little update as to what has been going on and why there have been no posts whatsoever from me. Basically, work has taken over completely and I have little time for shooting photos as all I want to do with my time off is skate. I'm working in production as an assistant on music videos, short films, commercials etc. The most interesting thing I have done is available for you to view below, it's basically a crazy light show with flying robots. If you imagine Danny Way and Daewon Song had a love child then this is the light show version of that child; super tech and world record breaking (this many flying robots have never been programmed to fly together before). Enjoy. Hopefully I will be able to post some skate related stuff soon instead of over the top productions like this, it is a skate blog after all. BL.

James Coyle

I went on a couple of mission in the past few days with Coyle. Here's a still and sequence from each of said days.

This is a weird little spot in North Shields that we went to yesterday. Coyle ollies over the rail into the bank. CLICK TO ENLARGE.

Todays mission was to Hurworth where this quarter lies and where Coyle did this BS blunt to noseblunt.

5 Bridges.

Today I went on a little mission with Dan and Jimbo to Temple park banks. I didn't shoot any digital shots whilst we were there but got a couple at bridges on the way back. CLICK TO ENLARGE.

Dan with a steezy fakie flip.

Then Jimbo had the idea of doing some doubles. After a bit of timing issues the lads managed to get this front tail/backside ollie combo.

March on film

This year March has brought some quite exsquisite weather with it, which is a far cry from the snow of last year. Throughout these hazy days I have been shooting a roll of 35mm film, recording the joys of skateboarding and chillin'. Here are the results for your viewing pleasure in chronilogical order. CLICK TO ENLARGE.

Niall and Cherry chillin' at the heli-pad before the sun put his hat on.

A soft looking Jimbo performs a wallie at the heli-pad.

Dan with a nosegrind taken from a tree. I managed to get two birds stoned at once with this shot as I got to climb a tree and got a nice photo.

Dan and Adam on the floor.

This dodgy looking character was staying in a tent hidden in one of Gateshead many alcove's. According to his lass it was a bargain at just £17.99.

Dan, smith grind.

Check out the intense leg shapes on this 180 switch manual. Yes Dan!

Will, frontside nosegrind pop out in an ethereal haze.

Niall with a noseblunt at West Jesmond school.

Classic.

Art.

Will chills in Heaton Park as 'Booze Britain' unfolds around him.

To finish we have three of my favourite things; skateboarding, sunshine and a bottle of Dog. Happy Days.

We are entering what may be the final month of posting by me on Dog on the Tyne. I'm moving to London to try and make something of myself and I don't think I'll have much time for shooting photos at first. Who knows though, maybe one day Dog on the Thames will be born.
