Thursday

The session started of at bridges to escape the showers where no blogging went. We headed to the wasteland after the rain where we found two separate groups of radgies wielding what looked like shotguns and rifles, in all reality they were air guns but we still didn't fancy getting shot so we moved swiftly on. We made our way to the bank beneath Byker bridge for some blogging action. Here are some sequences of that man Joe Hill again.

Kick flip bs wall ride.

We were all pretty tired from pushing up hill for half an hour at the bank spot so to finish the session we went to a little gap just round the corner where Joe did his usual set of tricks.

Big BS 180 first try.

'Lenz' Japanese skate video

Here is a trailer for a new Japanese skate video called 'Lenz'. There are a number of Japanese film makers who work in skateboarding and in my opinion they come up with the some of most original and interesting videos. The maker of 'Lenz' is a man called Shinpei Ueno, the combination of his filming and editing skills with some brilliantly innovative skateboarding and crazy Japanese spots will in my eyes produce an extraordinary film.

This section of Gou Miyagi was made by Takahiro Morita and was the talk of the town when it first made an appearance on youtube a couple of years ago.

A montage also made by Morita.

Tuesday

Today I finally managed to prize myself away from the wasteland and went street skating with Joe. We all know what Mr. Hill can do on a skateboard and today he reminded us why he's got a first light coming to a Sidewalk Mag near you.

The session started off poorly. We got shut down by various obstacles at various spots. Cars and angry women meant that no blogging was able to go down at three of the first four spots we went to. Our second spot was a little bar that we found near the quayside quarter, Joe promptly ollied it and did this frontside 180.

We then moved on into town where we proceeded to get shut down at both gap to bench and the national express road gap before any blogging could take place. After that we decided to go to the old faithful spot that is River 5. Joe pretty much put on a personal demo all for me, landing several tricks all very quickly.

First try Kick flip.

To finish off Joe busted out what I'm pretty sure is an NBD at this spot. Nollie fs flip.

After catching my breath we went back to quayside quater which had been our first spot of the day but was blocked by a car earlier. Joe ended the day with a blunt fakie.

Meadowell

Spent the last two days ripping the new park in the Meadowell area of North Shields. It's a great little park with loads of fun lines and super smooth ground. Here's a few sequences and a couple of stills from the sessions.

An exhibition at Exhibition

Today I Met up with Mr Errington for a quick warm up at Exhibition skate park before we went street skating. Instead of just cruising about and getting ready for the streets Jamie decided to put on a 15 minute demo for a few kids on their bikes. Here are the results of that 15 minutes. Click to enlarge the stills.

Super tweaked Ollie transfer.

Then on to the bowl. FS 5-0 to fakie.

Photobucket

Fs ollie disaster.

This how an ollie should look.

Then it was on to the rail. Ollie over into the bank.

Photobucket

He finished off by casually kick flipping over the rail to flat.

Afterward we went street skating. Jamie bagged a nice trick that we're hoping might get published, although there is every chance it won't so it may be making an appearance soon.

Wasteland update

I managed to uncover some good news today about the Wasteland. Apparently building of the planned university complex is not going to start any time this year. Two blokes were lurking by the entrance when I left today and we got chatting about what was going to happen to the place. They work for a project called Youdecide which basically spends money that developers have to give to local communities when they build in an area, it's how they 'give back' to the community. They said there is no date for the commencement of the building work and they don't expect it to start for 12 to 24 months. The money that the developers have to inject into the community will not be seen for years but they did say that if we got ourselves organised we could put a bid forward for the money to go towards a skateboard park. It's obviously a long way off and may never materialise but at least we have the wasteland for this summer.

Here's some photo's from the archives to celebrate. CLICK TO ENLARGE the stills.
