It's hard to believe that it has been a year since we lost our beloved Bingo. Just like last year local scenes from all over the country came together at 5 bridges to celebrate the life of perhaps the U.K's greatest ever skateboarding ambassador. Also like last year the weather played it's part and half of bridges was soaking wet once again. However, spirits were not dampened and the turn out was nothing short of spectacular, perhaps not on the same level as last year but still a strong showing. I was shooting 35mm film for most of the day but heres a few digital snaps that I also shot. CLICK TO ENLARGE.
Matty Smith was on a mission and nailed some nice tricks on the big ledge including a beautiful frontside crooks, I wasn't shooting at the time but I did get this 50-50 180 out.
He also battled a 5-0 back 180 out for quite sometime which he was unable to get. Afterwards his face looked like this:
And his back looked like this.
Jamie Errington busted out this back tail 270 shuv with consumate ease. Very impressive.
This ollie to wallride down is also rather impressive when seen in person.
Lally, Bish and Baines.
Jimbo with a frontside hurricane.
Kurt.
Will and Boris.
Blinky.
Connor.
Mr Scott Cherry was killing it all day, especially in this portrait.
This switch 50-50 was the only skate shot I got of Cherry but it was one of the most impressive tricks of the day as this rail is wobbly, steep and surrounded by shitty ground so anything on it is pretty sick let a lone a switch 50.
All in all it was a great day once again and another great celebration of the wonderful life of Steven Binks. If you haven't already you should check out Andy Harker's piece on Bingo in Grey Magazine's newspaper style publication called 'The Edition'. Andy was one of Bingo's closest and oldest friends and he writes about him in a way that oozes love and admiration in a way that only the closest of friends can. MISCHIEF FOREVER.
BL.
